pH Simulation
Dissociate - When a substance's inner molecules split evenly into different amounts of hydrogen and hydroxide ions. It may have more hydrogen or hydroxide ions depending on its chemical makeup.
When water dissociates it splits into an even amount of hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions.
When hydrochloric acid dissociates it splits and contains more hydrogen ions than hydroxide ions.
When sodium hydroxide dissociates it splits and contains more hydroxide ions.
All the acidic solutions (ginger ale, orange juice, and milk) will produce more hydrogen ions. While lysol and bleach are bases so they will produce more hydroxide ions.
