Density- Independent Factors
A density independent factor is any factor limiting the size of a population whose effect is not dependent on the number of individuals in the population.
Density Dependent Factor
Density dependent factors are factors whose effects on the size or growth of the population vary with the population density.
Growth Curves
Exponential growth is growth whose rate becomes ever more rapid in proportion to the growing total number or size. Logistic Growth occurs when the growth rate decreases as the population reaches carrying capacity.
Carrying capacity is the number of people, other living organisms, or crops that a region can support without environmental degradation. Carrying capacity is reached when there are only enough resources for an exact number of organisms to be supported ( the highest number).
